Barama Mission was started by Fr. Kulandaisamy in the year 1985. It was then under the territorial jurisdiction of Tezpur. The bishop during whose time the mission was established was Rt. Rev. Robert Kerketta SDB DD, the then Bishop of Tezpur. The Catholics belong to the Boro community.

Mary Grace Rural Health Centre (2016)

On 17th July 2013, Assisi Sisters of Mary Immaculate arrived at Mushalpur to start a hospital in Adalbari near Mushalpur. They initially stayed in a rented house in Adalbari. Sr. Emily Francis ASMI and Vijeta Francis ASMI were the pioneers. The hospital was later shifted to Nathkuchi. In 2023, the Holy Family Sisters were entrusted with its administration.

Although Barpeta Road Mission had resident priests since 1933, it was erected as an independent parish in 1936 by Bishop Louis Mathias. The mission originally covered Kamrup and Goalpara districts, along with Mangaldai subdivision of Darrang district. Over time, new centers like Tangla, Mangaldai, Udalguri, Doomni, Bengtol, and Kumarikatta were separated. Currently, Barpeta Road Parish's boundary is limited to the civil sub-division of Barpeta Sadar. The Catholics belong to the Boro, Adivasi, and Santhali communities.
